All Wasabi members have one thing in common, a love of paddling and racing, whether on a Dragon Boat, an Outrigger Canoe, or both. We are always welcoming new members to join the club. You are welcome to discover Competition, Community, and Camaraderie on the water.
Membership is comprised of Portlanders of all abilities, age, and physical fitness. Teams range from recreational to competitive. One of the dragon boat teams is world champion breast cancer survivor team, Team SOAR. We are an inclusive group who enjoy many on and off-water activities. Club members represent Portland and the Wasabi Paddling Club at local and international venues around the world.
Wasabi's hometown Portland, Oregon, is a beautiful Pacific Northwest City where the Columbia and Willamette rivers meet. Boats practice on the Willamette. Launching from downtown, boats typically head up-river past the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry. Thanks to Portland's mild climate, boats can be seen in use just about every day of the year. Have a look at the practice schedule for an idea when boats will be in use.
The Wasabi Paddling Club is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the participation in, and promotion of, the national and international amateur sports of Dragon Boat and Outrigger Canoe racing.
Our charter includes assisting novice through experienced paddlers in our community. The Club's goal is to develop strong, competitive teams through sponsoring and coaching.
Members are kept up to date through our monthly newsletter. We keep a very aggressive race schedule and we are proud of our race results.
The Club is comprised of Portlanders, just like yourself. Our members embody the western pioneering spirit and the unquenchable love of the environment. We are engaged in community and competition. Members participate in a host of activites including charitable, recreational, and athletic events. We are a friendly bunch and would love for you to contact us.
