Wasabi Outrigger Instructions & Calendar

The Wasabi Paddling Club owns two OC6's, two OC2's and two OC1's. Signing up for these boats is free for members, as long as the following rules are abided by. OC2's can be reserved from the link below (read the rules first), and OC6's can be reserved by contacting the OC6 coordinator.

To use the canoes...

  • You must be an eligible Wasabi member to use the canoes. You are considered an eligible member if (a) you have a membership in good standing all fees paid; (b) you have signed a liability waver; (c) you have successfully completed the huli test.
  • You will not share the password for the outrigger calendar with anyone who is not eligible to use the canoes.
  • You will not take anyone on the canoes who is not an eligible member, unless specific authorization has been granted by the club's current OC2 coordinator.
  • You will not share the combinations for the club's locks, nor the gate key, with anyone not on the eligible member list.
  • You will use the OC2's safely and responsibly.
  • You will wear a life preserver during the calendar months from January-April and November-December. The seat cushions on the boat are acceptable life preservers during the remaining months of the year. If you cannot swim, you will be required to wear a life preserver for the entire year.
  • You may not sign-up for a practice more than 7 days in advance.
  • You may sign up for the canoe for a period of two consecutive hours only. If upon the date of your practice, there is time availability remaining that would allow you to extend your use of the canoe, then you may sign-up for additional time.
  • You will note any damage to the canoes, both prior to and after your use, on the clipboard in the locker at the facility, by indicating the damage, the date and time, and the persons using the canoe.
  • You will indicate on the calendar which canoe you will be utilizing, i.e. blue or yellow, as well as the two individuals per canoe that will be practicing.
  • You will give preference to usage of the canoes when they are required for seat races or outrigger canoe races.
  • You will wipe down the canoes, to clean them of mud and debris after every practice. There will be towels present in the locker at the facility.
  • You will be courteous of other boaters and marina slip owners when utilizing the canoes.
